We just signed on for guaranteed lower rates on our combined electric bill by supporting a solar farm through Community Solar. This one is in Spencer MA and will be online in September. They already have one up and running near Boston.
This means we will get a fixed rate (and there rates are really low) for the next 25 years no matter how high our current provider (National Grid) raises their rates. Normally you get a bill for the kw hours used and also the distribution charge. This gives you a fixed rate for both. Will save us over $40K over the next 25 years. You are actually buying into this solar farm (but you don’t have to put any money down). You can give the plan to whomever buys your house or take it with you. And you are supporting green energy.
